Age Group National Championships

It was a tough meet as this years team was depleted by illness and Injury.  However, the 8 swimmers attending more than made up it with some massive best times.

Kelly Small was the star of the girl’s team dropping 41 seconds in the 1500 freestyle to win a bronze medal.  She also dropped a huge 17 seconds to come 4th in the 800 freestyle and made the finals on the 100 and 200 backstroke and 400 freestyle all with best times.  Her overall performance earnt her 4th position in the Bagcats.

Georgia Churchill-Wright gave an outstanding performance in her first Nationals to drop 26 seconds in her 1500 freestyle, proving her worth as a distance swimmer.

Megan Owen also swam the 1500 freestyle with a good solid performance to get her a new best time.  Both  Georgia and Megan will be swimming the Welsh National Championships so will hopefully carry on the great swimming they have shown in Sheffield.

On the boy’s side of the team Oliver Kincart nursing illness all week swam exceptionally well winning 2 Silver medals in the 200 butterfly and 400 I.M.  In both these swims Oliver set new Scottish age group records.

James Miller also had an exceptional week making finals in both the 100 and 200 Breastroke with best times.  James also went on to swim best times in the 400 I.M and giving a solid performance in his 1500 freestyle.  Showing that he is developing into an all round swimmer.

Continuing, with the boys was Sean O’Kill showing great promise in the 800 and 1500 Freestyle to finish both events in the top 10.  He gave a solid swim in the 200 Freestyle showing he is developing into a classic Freestyle swimmer.

Will Stanhope qualified as the slowest competitor in both the 800 and 1500 Freestyle.  He gave 2 amazing swims to finish both events in the top 10, a great achievement.

Tom Gregson, also represented the team swimming the 200 Butterfly.
